New Headquarters for Roscommon County Council
Stewart is currently constructing the new Roscommon County Council Civic Offices located on the site of the old fire station in the middle of Roscommon town.
The new headquarters involves the novated design and construction of approximately 6500m2 of new, high-quality county council offices including council chambers for Roscommon Co. Council on what is a very restricted site.
Designed by ABK Architects, the offices are exemplary in terms of architectural design and workplace environment and will be highly efficient buildings with a BREEAM Excellent rating and a Building Energy Rating (BER) of A3 which is achieved through design, specification and the use of innovative environmental solutions.
The project also involves works to a Protected Structure, the old Courthouse. The old courthouse, now the headquarters of Roscommon County Council, is being reconverted to provide full courthouse facilities for the family court, as well as facilities for barristers, judges and the public. Fragments of existing stone walls of the original 19th century jail have also been retained and integrated into the build.
Phases of the construction involve working within a ‘live’ work environment (live council offices and active law courts) with construction work taking place in close proximity with members of the public and works include the co-ordination of the phased decanting of council staff from existing accommodation on the site.
